PlayStation 3 160GB Game System
75 Days of summer with PlayStation 3 160GB Game System
I have a confession to make. This is something I am not very proud of… I have never played any video game in my entire life. Not even the “Old School ones”— Mario Brothers, WarCraft, or Battle City.
It is only when I visited my cousin’s house last summer (and I forgot to pack Harper Lee in my bag) that I have tried laying my hands on a Sony PlayStation 3 160GB game System.
You can call me pathetic, but it really feels great to feel updated with the latest trend; it is as if I am a Neanderthal creature discovering fire for the first time. (Yeah, laugh!)
My parents are pretty uptight. They want me to concentrate on my academics first. That is why they have set up a library at home housing a good number of great books; they want to ensure that I become the top student in my class. I have a personal computer, but they do not allow installation of games or anything unrelated to my studies. Whenever my friends come over my house, we play a lot of board games like Scrabble, Monopoly, and Quiddler. Yeah, it is fun, but I never knew there could still be something else even more fun—more contemporary.
My cousin Arthur had invited me once to play Warhawk on his PlayStation 3 160GB game System. I guess I must have appeared funny to him because I just gave him a puzzled look. I have never even heard that such a game existed. But thinking he has had two more seventh generation video game consoles, Wii and X-box 360, I can only conclude that he is such a techie. He once shared to me a little history of video game consoles. He said, “Once upon a time, Nintendo asked Sony to develop a CD-ROM add-on called “PlayStation”. But due to conflict in profit-sharing, Nintendo went instead to Phillips, and when Sony continued to develop this PlayStation, Nintendo had to file a lawsuit for breach of contract, and attempted to obtain an injunction against the release of the PlayStation. However, the Federal judged denied the appeal, and so now, they say the rest was history.”
At first, the concept of video game consoles and PlayStation 3 160GB game System was somehow obscure to me, but my cousin tutored me well. After staying a month of summer in his house, I found myself learning to speak the language of video game players! I learned that the Sony PlayStation 3 160GB game System
has motion capabilities known as the “PlayStation Move.” One would hold the main controller with the dominant hand, and an optional second controller in the recessive hand. The “PlayStation Move’s” controllers are always accurately being tracked by a camera.
Sony even allows online game distribution known as the PlayStation Network (PSN). It offers free online gaming, downloadable content such as classic PlayStation games, high definition games, and movie trailers. Indeed, it was a revolutionizing experience!
We played tennis on my cousin’s Nintendo Wii, too, which has a unique controller that resembles a TV remote, but it only has a maximum resolution output of 480p which makes it the only seventh generation console not able to output high-definition graphics. I was also not very impressed with X-box, so we returned to playing Warhawk and Midnight Club on his PlayStation 3 160GB game System.
I’ve been hoping that my parents would buy me my own PlayStation 3 160GB game System once I get straight As, but they are too firm to say that they don’t want any distractions for me right now. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to wait until next summer…
